A PAIR OF FRENCH MODEL 1866 YATAGHAN SWORD BAYONETS FOR THE CHASSEPOT RIFLE, each with 22 3/4 in. steel blade fullered on each side with engraved backs and inspection marks on ricassos, cross-guards with quillion and inspection marks, brass hilts, one Tulle arsenal dated 1869, cross-guard marked '79. L. II. 4. 248' and one an early Chatellerault arsenal dated 1866 with the grip rivet through the second grip rib from the bottom, cross-guard marked '117. LI. 2.140', both stained with rust patches, release buttons frozen, no scabbards, each 27 1/2 in. overall
